FAQ
Here we have collected the most common questions you ask us about the summer season.
- LIFT PASS
-
- Can we buy our lift passes at your facility?
We recommend EVERYONE this year to shop their cards online. This is to avoid queues in front of the ticket offices. You can buy lift tickets below:
- Can I use an old lift pass and top it up?
Yes, as long as the card has a WTP number on the back and the card is an AXESS card, it can be used again. Select "Top up WTP card" in the shopping cart. Read more about buying lift tickets here.
- Can I change the date if I have filled in the wrong date?
You can, but not online. You must either contact [email protected] or change it in the guest center on arrival. Read more about buying lift tickets here.
- Can I top up 0-6 years old on an existing lift pass online?
If you are going to buy this alone, it must be purchased together with a new Axess/WTP card. You cannot top up 0-6 years on an existing card you have. Read more about buying lift tickets here.
- Can I buy a card with any day in season?
Yes, but these are not available in the online store, so these cards must be purchased at the guest center. Read more about buying lift tickets here.
- I have replenished my card online / I have purchased a new card online. Do they need to be activated before I can use them?
No, just go in the elevator and the card will be activated in the elevator card reader. Read more about buying lift tickets here.
- I have bought a new card online, where do I pick it up?
Then you have received a confirmation by email with a QR code you scan in the pick-up boxes outside the Welcome Center at Skitorget in Hafjell or at the gondola top. Here you will get your card(s).
- How do I buy a lift pass?
You can buy lift tickets online, new or top up an existing card. If you are going to buy a new one, select "New WTP card" in the drop-down menu. If you want to top up an existing card, choose "Top up WTP". Then you can fill in the WTP code on the back of the card where it says WTP code. You can also scan the QR code on the back of the card using the camera on your phone. Then it fills in the WTP code itself. We also have an app available where you can buy all types of lift tickets (not season passes). The app is called HafjellKvitfjell (download here for iOS/download here for Android). Still undecided? See this page for help buying lift tickets online.
- I have bought a lift pass on a given day, but see bad weather has been reported. Can I get a refund?
We refund unused cards only in the event of illness, against a doctor's certificate no later than one day before. Please contact us by e-mail to info@hafjell.no for such inquiries.
- We have been to Hafjell, but the facility had to close due to bad weather or technical problems. Do we get a refund?
There are separate refund rules for service interruptions in the plant, which you can read more about in our terms of sale here.
- Do you have separate prices for companions?
Yes, we have. The companion gets a library card and the user gets 10 % on the lift pass. This is arranged in the guest center. Remember to bring a companion certificate.

- CYCLING IN HAFJELL BIKE PARK
-
- What is downhill cycling?
In Downhill, it's all about cycling downhill. Chairlifts and gondolas mean you don't have to go back up, so you don't have to be an athlete to have fun. The bikes are designed for downhill skiing just like alpine skis in winter, they have very good brakes and super damping.
When you try for the first time, there are 3 things that are important, look far ahead, look far ahead, look far ahead. In addition, you should take it easy for the first few rides, get to know the bike and preferably get to know a trail well, before you start to increase your speed. One thing is certain; You'll be smiling after the first ride.
Read more about downhill cycling here.
- What types of trails do you have?
At Hafjell Bike Park we have a wide selection of trails in different levels of difficulty. The trails located in the lift-based facility are all graded as downhill slopes, but are graded in the following levels of difficulty:
- Green trails are suitable for all skill levels. We recommend all beginners to start by cycling on a green trail before switching to blue. On green trails, you won't encounter any scary obstacles, but you can roll easily on wide machine-built paths or gravel roads.
- Blue trails are a little more difficult than the green ones, but are also manageable for beginners. Our blue trails are wide, machine-built trails with comfortable dosages, small plateau jumps and other fun elements.
- Red trails are narrower and/or steeper than the blue trails, and are suitable for more experienced cyclists. Here you will find more rocks and roots, as well as bigger challenges such as jumps and drops of a slightly greater difficulty than what you find in blue slopes.
- Black trails are very demanding, and should only be ridden by those who have very good cycling skills. Here you will find large rocks, roots, large jumps with gaps, drops, technical challenges and very steep descents
- Which trails should I choose to cycle on?
You should ride in the course grading that you feel comfortable in. If you push your limits too hard, it's easy to make mistakes. If you are unsure which trails are right for you, we recommend you start with the green trails, before switching to blue trails when you feel that you master the green trails well.
- What type of bikes and equipment should I use to ride in Hafjell Bike Park?
In our lift-based cycling facility, we only recommend the use of full-suspension mountain bikes with good disc brakes. For pump track cycling and trail cycling, of course, all other types of bikes can be used. Our rental bikes within each category are of top standard from Scott, helmet and protective gear are always included in our rental prices.
"Regular" mountain bikes, children's bikes, and the like are not recommended on the facility's downhill trails.
By the way, we recommend the use of the following equipment when cycling in Hafjell Bike Park:
- HELMET is always mandatory on all our trails, FULL HELMET is mandatory on red and black trails.
- Back plate
- Elbow Pads
- Knee pads
- Gloves
- Goggles/Goggles
If you do not have access to all this equipment, it is possible to rent in our bike rental, or buy at Hafjell Sport, which is located right next to the bike rental and at Gaiastova.
- Is it dangerous to cycle downhill?
Basically not, but there is a caveat below here. If you ride within your skill level and at the right speed, downhill riding is no more dangerous than any other cycling, especially with all the protective gear that we recommend using.
But if you push your limits and ride much faster than you're used to, and choose to try black trails and jumps that are bigger than your skills allow, then there are certainly opportunities for dangerous situations to arise during downhill cycling.
Read more about our guidelines for your safety in your facility here.
- What happens if you injure yourself while cycling in Hafjell?
In Hafjell, we always have a bicycle patrol on duty in the facility, these are dedicated people who work with safety and first aid in the facility. They will help you if an accident occurs, or if you are stuck with a punctured or broken bike.
You can reach the bicycle patrol by phone +(47) 40 40 15 00.
- What rules apply to cycling in the facility?
We have some guidelines that we call our cycling code of conduct, which we want everyone to follow for their own safety and ours:
1. ALL CYCLING IS AT YOUR OWN RISK
2. GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER Get to know the equipment and trail first, always take it easy the first trip so you don't get any unpleasant surprises
3. ADAPT YOUR SPEED So you don't put yourself or others at risk, depending on your skill, the road conditions and the difficulty of the course.
4. DUTY TO GIVE WAY Cyclists coming from behind are responsible for avoiding collisions, overtaking on trails is not allowed.
5. CROSS CAREFULLY When driving into, or crossing a trail
6. DO NOT STOP ON THE TRAIL Never stop under hanging edges, jumps or other unclear places. Cyclists on foot on the way up must always stay off the trail.
7. CHECK THE EQUIPMENT The bike must be in good condition. Always check that the brakes, dampers and wheels are in good condition.
8. RESPECT SIGNS Follow signs, markings and instructions. Reckless driving may result in confiscated lift passes.
9. MANDATORY HELMET Full face helmet is highly recommended. Other safety equipment is recommended.
10. HELP IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT In the event of injury, everyone has a duty to help. Witnesses and participants are obliged to provide personal information.
11. AVOID UNNECESSARY WEAR Avoid locking the rear wheel when cornering and steep hills, as it puts unnecessary strain on both bikes and trails
